__It's Cool to Homeschool

Sierra County Homeschool Association provides support for the homeschool education process. The independence of homeschoolers is respected and supported with activities and materials chosen by the members.  SCHA provides both social and academic events for anyone interested in supporting homeschooling and homeschoolers.  When we work together, the stars are the limit!

Sierra County Homeschool Association

 is working for YOU. 

  • Your home-school association started a mentoring program last year.  Adult and youth who are interested in participating for 1 hour per week, please email me at Director@scha.5u.com 
  • Please check the Community Board for opportunities to learn from and with other home-schoolers.
  • Your Home-school Association has negotiated free access for Sierra County home-schoolers to:
    • Free gas (or, choose the bus option) and entry to a learning service activity at Bosque del Apache Bird Sanctuary
    • Bats and Buffalos Tour on Turner's Ranch
    • The Climbing Walls across the river
    • Geronimo Springs Museum (and future museums)
    • Kayaks--Watch for the Beach Party/Teamwork  Workshop!
    • Music and Performance lessons (some instruments available for free use)
    • Media Technology (Mini DV cameras, training and editing course)
    •  X-cup competition in Las Cruces (Rocket Science)
    • Some require a small group of 5 or more; sign up at Director@scha.5u.com
