Vexillology

What is vexillology? Hmmm, read on.

One day I had a  toy tractor that I rode (I was four).  I saw some 4”x6” American flags in Wal-Mart and I decided I wanted them.  So my dad got them for me. I wanted to put one of them on my tractor. My dad put it on for me. A few years later I got a bike. I put a flag on it too. I guess that was the start of my interest in vexillology.

When we started full-timing we went to Alaska, and in Alaska I got a trailer for my bike (this was a different bike). In a store there was a basket full of Alaska flags. So I got one! And I got a pole to secure it to my bike trailer. Then I had the idea to get a flag for every state or Canadian province I visit.

When people see my flags they wonder about them. So I always stop and tell them the story behind my flags. I think the reason they catch people's attention is because they are so tall and they flap in the breeze. If you are lucky you will see me at Elephant Butte Lake State Park in the winter months.

I order my flags online. They come in many different sizes including 4”x6“, 12”x18“, and as banners! If you have an interest in flags click on the link:
http://www.united-states-flag.com/state.html  They have a lot of flags there.

Vexillology is the study of flags.  A vexillologist is a person who studies flags.  I’m a hobby vexillologist.  Congratulations!  You now know more about vexillology.  I hope you spread this information.
